March brought energy, growth, and some standout moments across Wiseburn Da Vinci Athletics. As we move deeper into the spring season, our student-athletes continue to show what it means to compete with purpose—balancing academics, teamwork, and a commitment to getting better every day. From early-season tournaments to league matchups, we’ve already seen resilience, leadership, and a strong sense of community take center stage.
This month’s update highlights the progress of our teams, celebrates key performances, and recognizes the effort happening behind the scenes—from coaches to families—who make it all possible. We’re excited about where things are headed and proud of how our Wolves are representing Da Vinci both on and off the field.
🏐 Boys Volleyball
March was a month charged with energy and achievement for our Boys Volleyball program, as both Varsity and JV teams showcased championship-level grit and skill on the court.
🔥 Varsity Highlights
Our Varsity Wolves have been on fire, holding a strong 19–7 overall record! An epic moment at the Venice Varsity Invitational, where they battled through tough competition to reach the Gold Level Championship match, as their runner-up finish highlights their status as one of the top programs in the region.
- Key wins included a decisive 3–0 shutout over Palos Verdes and a hard-fought 3–1 victory against West Torrance.
- Dylan Soriano has been the offensive backbone with an impressive 392 assists, while Sai Santiago leads the team in kills with 259.
- Cohen McGraw has been a dominant presence at the net, recording a team-high 38 blocks.
🧠 JV Highlights
Matching Varsity’s success, the JV Wolves also earned a spot in the Gold Level Championship match at the Venice tournament, demonstrating resilience and teamwork.
- On March 21st, the JV squad dominated the Thousand Oaks JV Tournament, securing wins against Simi Valley (2–0), Oak Park (2–0), and Westlake (1–0), finishing an impressive 3rd place in the Gold Level.
- Earlier in the month, the team swept Santa Monica 2–0, contributing to their strong 16–7 record.
Both squads are riding a wave of momentum that reflects their hard work and dedication, with a bright season ahead for our WDV Volleyball Wolves!🏐🐺
🎯 Archery
The WDV Archery Team hosted its first LA regional event on March 14th, with about 70 archers from three different high schools competing. The team performed exceptionally well, WDV Archery qualified to compete in the Olympic Archery in Schools California State Championships held at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Facility on April 4, 2026.
At the recent LA Regionals, the team fought hard against students from other schools in both the Ranking Rounds and Solo Head-to-Head Competitions.
In addition to many of our archers placing in the top 10 of their division we had several medal winners!

We are incredibly proud of all 70 archers who competed, especially those stepping onto the tournament line for the very first time. Hosting a successful home event is a major milestone for our growing program, and it reflects the hard work of our athletes, coaches, and families!
🥎 Softball
March was a month of growth for our Wiseburn Da Vinci Wolves softball team as they continued to build momentum in their season!

- The Wolves showcased strong offensive and defensive skills, securing wins against Culver City and Inglewood, highlighting their teamwork and strategy on the field.
- Throughout the month, the team demonstrated resilience, bouncing back from close games with determination and focus, helping improve their overall record and confidence.
- Standout performances from several players energized the team, contributing crucial hits and defensive plays that kept the Wolves competitive in every game.

📣 Cheer
Join the WDV Competition Cheer team on April 8 at 6pm in the WDV Gym for a cheer showcase! The team will be on the court performing their competition routine to help fundraise for their coming competitions.
⚾️ Baseball
March was an exciting month for our Wiseburn Da Vinci Wolves baseball team as they showcased strong performances and team spirit on the diamond
🧠 Season Snapshot
Throughout March, the Wolves have shown focused performance on the field, bringing their record to 6-7 overall. This highlights their resilience and determination to compete at a high level!
🔥 Standout Performances
- The Wolves secured a solid victory against El Rancho with a close 4-2 win early in the month, setting a confident tone for the season!
- Mid-month, the team continued to impress by defeating Peninsula in a league game, demonstrating their growing strength and teamwork
- Despite a tough loss to the Spartans later in the month, the team’s spirit remains high as they continue to learn and grow from each game experience
The Wiseburn Da Vinci Wolves are proving themselves as a competitive and spirited team, making March a month to remember as they build momentum heading into the spring season 🐺⚾!!
🎮 ESports
March was an electrifying month for WDV Esports as we hosted the Battle of the South Bay which ignited fierce competition and community spirit in the Black Box.
🔥 Event Performances
- Around 100 middle schoolers packed the venue where Adams Middle School from Redondo claimed victory in the Middle School Battles, whilst WDV Esports team and supportive parents raised nearly $1,000 selling pizza, candy, and soda to the excited crowd!
- Four of our top SSBU players were victorious in placing 1st and 2nd place in the 2 Versus 2 competition.
- For Rocket league there were six south bay middle schools who were invited to compete
- For SSBU both El Segundo and Redondo Union high schools faced two very talented WDV teams.
🏅 Battle of the South Bay Showdown Highlights
- The WDV Super Smash Bros Teams A and B stepped into the spotlight for the main event against high school rivals 🎮!!
- Team A — Ben Alonso (DVC) and Solomon Cannad (DVD) swept El Segundo’s top players in straight matches, showcasing sharp skills and teamwork.
- Team B — Makoa Burruel (DVD) and Brandon Ceron (DVS) defeated Redondo Union’s best with similar dominance.
- The thrilling final saw Team A and Team B face off, with Ben Alonso and Solomon Cannad crowned Battle of the South Bay Champions.
- They earned not only everlasting glory and a spot on the trophy alongside Mira Costa and El Segundo but also $1,000 for the team and professional gaming gear!
Congratulations to runners-up Makoa Burruel and Brandon Ceron, who made a stunning comeback fueled by roaring support from Team 4201!!
📅 What’s Ahead
Our WDV ESports Spring season for CIF has reached the finale! Starting the week of April 6th, our Varsity Super Smash Bros Ultimate team, who are currently ranked 3rd in their respective group standings, will begin the 1st round of their regional playoffs bracket play. We are pleased with the results of all of our CIF teams and we celebrate their accomplishments in this year of growth and development🎮! Here is a quick look at our teams' and their results:
- Mario Kart - 68th out of 99 teams
- All Girls SSBU - 6th out of 15 teams
- Varsity Rocket League - 69th out of 84 teams
- JV1 SSBU - 32rd out of 186 teams
- JV2 SSBU - 83rd out of 186 teams
- Varsity SSBU - 44th out of 208 teams
The WDV ESports program consists of 9 national teams and 6 CIF teams and is led by assistant coaches Andy Galbraith, Eric Marintsch, and head coach Jahmal Durham. 🏃 Track & Field
March was a month full of strong performances and team spirit for the Da Vinci Wiseburn track and field athletes as they competed in several high-profile meets.
🏅Culver City 5 Way Meet (Vs El Segundo, LACES, Da Vinci, and Beverly Hills)
In the Culver City 5 Way meet, the Da Vinci Wiseburn team competed fiercely against strong local rivals. The multi-school meet provided another opportunity for Da Vinci Wiseburn athletes to demonstrate their versatility and endurance. The team competed with determination, with many athletes improving their personal bests, adding to the team’s growing momentum!
- Carter Bridgeforth placed 1st in Frosh/Soph Boys 100m Dash, and 3rd in the 200m!!!
- Amir Brown also placed 4th in the Frosh/Soph Boys 100m Dash
- Amiyah Randolph placed 2nd in the Frosh/Soph Girls 100m Dash along with Diamond Draffen in 3rd, just tailing behind!
- Adalyn Besemer took home 1st place in the Varsity Girls 1600m Dash!!!
- Madison Griffin finished 4th in the Varsity Girls 100m Dash, just .01 seconds from the podium; as well as 4th in the 200m Dash!!
- Deon Radcilff took 2nd place in the Varsity Boys 100m Dash with Jouquin Gonzales taking 3rd place just behind!
- Arshad Muhammed earned 3rd place in the Varsity Boys 200m Dash and 2nd place in the 400m dash
🎽The Qualifier
At The Qualifier, Da Vinci Wiseburn athletes continued their upward trajectory, using this event to sharpen their competitive edge and secure qualifying marks for upcoming championships. The team’s commitment to consistent improvement was evident, reflecting their focused training and positive mindset.
- Carter Bridgeforth placed 4th in the Frosh/Soph Boys 200m Dash Finals
- Madison Griffin placed 5th in the Varsity Girls 100m Dash Finals
- Adalyn Besemer placed 3rd in the Varsity Girls 1600m Run Finals by a little over 11 seconds!
- WDV’s Varsity Girls placed 3rd in the 4x200m Relay Finals
As we wrap up another exciting month of competition, I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who makes Wiseburn Da Vinci Athletics so special. To our student-athletes, thank you for your dedication, resilience, and the pride you bring to our programs each and every day. To our coaches, your leadership and commitment to developing not just skilled players, but strong young people, does not go unnoticed.
