A Season of Creativity and Giving at WDV Performing Arts!

As we round out an exciting fall semester, the Wiseburn Da Vinci Performing Arts Department continues to shine. From soaring vocals to powerful orchestral performances and student-led showcases, our stages have been alive with creativity, collaboration, and talent. This season has been a true celebration of student voice and artistry.

The “Voices of Da Vinci” Choir wasted no time returning from Fall Break, hosting their second annual Fam Jam Winter Concert on Thursday, December 4. This intimate evening showcased both standout vocal soloists and full choral performances. Soloists performed music by artists such as Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Frank Sinatra, ABBA, and more, while group numbers featured works by PJ Morton, Steve Winwood, QUEEN, and Woody Guthrie. Highlights of the evening included a beautiful piano accompaniment by 12th grader Kyle Weinstein and a powerful full-choir performance of “This Land Is Your Land,” arranged by 11th grader Mykell Jackson. It was truly a night of celebration, marking the Choir’s third official season with heart and harmony.

The following week, our spectacular Studio Orchestra took the stage for their annual Winter Concert on Monday, December 8. The program featured holiday favorites like “Winter Wonderland” and “Jingle Bell Rock,” with special collaboration from Wiseburn Middle School’s Symphonic Band. Valerie Rouillon dazzled the audience with lyrical solos in “Las Mañanitas” and “Si Nos Dejan.” Adding an unexpected twist, the orchestra also rocked the house with “We’re Not Gonna Take It!” by Twisted Sister. As one of our longest-running performing arts programs, the WDV Studio Orchestra continues to shine bright year after year.

Our fall season concluded with the annual Performing Arts Seminar Night — going out with a bang… or rather, a drumline! Our newly rebranded Drumline Seminar (formerly Drum Ensemble) debuted their brand-new instruments, while student actors delivered expressive performances both onstage and on camera. Music Production seminars filled the space with expertly crafted, student-produced beats. Behind the scenes, Stagecraft Seminar students supported the event by running lights, sound, and video, demonstrating the full scope of technical theater skills learned this semester.

As our winter season comes to a close, we look ahead with excitement to a vibrant spring lineup. Be sure to mark your calendars:
