Community Learning Days Continue in 2025–26
Community Learning Days (CLDs) are back for the 2025–26 school year, bringing students from all Da Vinci high schools together to explore interests, ignite passions, and create meaningful learning experiences.
The first CLD of the year, held on Sept. 23, gave students across Da Vinci Communications, Connect, Design, RISE, and Science the chance to dive into hands-on workshops, pursue personal projects, and strengthen connections across our school community. CLDs were created in response to our community’s desire for more opportunities to collaborate, connect, learn, and grow together.

On-Campus Workshops
A record 524 students participated in on-campus workshops last week—the largest turnout since CLDs began.
From tote bag design and soap making to flight simulation, college application prep, soccer, weightlifting, live music, Spanish practice, student-led theater, exploring the macabre world of Edgar Allan Poe and more, there was something for everyone. Held from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, the workshops invited students to explore their interests more deeply, build connections with peers, and engage in creative, hands-on learning.
A few highlights from the Sept. 23 CLD included:
- A live performance by an independent touring band, led by Connect High English teacher Brendan Reynolds, followed by a Q&A and career advice for aspiring musicians.
- Career talks with Broadway actor Wesley Ryan (Hamilton); Yolanda Cerezo, a policy analyst at the National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform; and a few of Da Vinci's own Resource teachers.
- A field trip to Otis College of Art and Design, where students explored programs in Game and Entertainment Design, Toy Design, Fine Arts, and more.

Off-Campus Learning
Many students designed their own day of learning off-campus—catching up on schoolwork, working on college applications, visiting museums or college campuses, and pursuing other independent projects.
CLDs also provide valuable time for our educators to collaborate, plan, grow professionally, and recharge. Supporting the social-emotional wellness of both students and staff is central to the spirit of these days, and we are proud to foster meaningful opportunities that uplift the entire Da Vinci community.
