Wiseburn Da Vinci Performing Arts: Voices Rising, Stars Shining
This spring has been full of energy and achievement for Wiseburn Da Vinci Performing Arts. From the “Voices of Da Vinci” choirs lighting up the stage at Rock Around the Block to our musical theatre students earning recognition from the Jerry Herman Awards for their production of Into the Woods, the season has been filled with standout moments.
"Voices of Da Vinci" Shine at Rock Around the Block
Our Voices of Da Vinci choirs had a fantastic time performing at this year’s Rock Around the Block event sponsored by the Wiseburn Education Foundation. The Primary Choir kicked off the morning event with energy and heart, performing two songs—"A Little Love" by Alexi Paraschos and "The World Will Sing Our Song" by The Jones Girls—setting a joyful tone for the day.
The High School Choir followed with dynamic renditions of “I Know You, I Live You” by Chaka Khan and “From the Start” by Laufey, both directed by Mykell Jackson and brought to life by standout student soloists. Students’ confidence and musical growth stood out as they navigated challenging repertoire with poise and expression.
The event culminated in a powerful combined performance of “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman, uniting Voices of Da Vinci and the “Wiseburn Wonders” under the direction of Evelyn Park. The finale was a powerful celebration of unity, voice and belonging.
As always, Rock Around The Block was an uplifting celebration of music, collaboration, and community spirit—highlighting the incredible talent and dedication of Wiseburn Da Vinci students.
The Jerry Herman Awards Celebrate Da Vinci Schools again!
This year’s production of Into the Woods earned two nominations from the Jerry Herman Awards—a prestigious, Tony Awards–style celebration recognizing excellence in high school musical theatre across Los Angeles County.
Da Vinci students shone both on and off the stage during the adjudication process. Elijah Saintlouis (11th grade, DVC) and Koda Guidel (10th grade, DVC) were nominated for Best Lighting Design, highlighting the strength of our behind-the-scenes talent. On stage, Daniel Gutierrez (12th grade, DVC), who portrayed the Baker, was selected as one of just 20 Best Actor nominees (from more than 50 students countywide), advancing to perform in Round 2 at the awards show.
We are incredibly proud of our students and their dedication, artistry, and collaboration. We look forward to cheering on all participating schools at this year’s ceremony on Sunday, May 3 at the Ricardo Montalbán Theater in Hollywood—a celebration of the vibrant talent across our region.
