Immunization Requirements

On June 30, 2015, Governor Brown signed into law, SB 277, which eliminates the personal and religious belief exemptions for vaccinations.

Starting January 1, 2016, Personal Beliefs Exemptions will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into school or child care in California.

California law requires children to be immunized. Children are exempt from immunization requirements only if a parent or guardian submits a written statement from a licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.).
