Curtain Up on Spring Semester 2026

An exciting season of creativity, growth, and performance is underway for WDV Performing Arts. From a magical Broadway musical to expanded classes, new ensembles, and innovative learning opportunities across TK–12, there’s so much to celebrate—and even more to look forward to. We’re thrilled to share what’s ahead this spring!

INTO THE WOODS Opens Next Month!
Once upon a time…80 students from across six Da Vinci Schools were working creatively, collaboratively and joyfully to bring a story to life. In this story (that will both enchant you and challenge you to self-reflect) fairytales collide, wishes are granted, and happily-ever-after comes with consequences. Spend a few hours in our forest (Blackbox) filled with magic, mystery, and moral twists as we bring this clever, complex, humorous, and moving Tony-Award-winning Broadway Musical with music and lyrics by the celebrated, Stephen Sondheim, and a book by the brilliant, James Lapine, to life.

INNOVATIVE TEACHERS GRANT from the Wiseburn Education Foundation
We are thrilled to share that our WDV Theatre Program is the proud recipient of an Innovative Teachers Grant from the Wiseburn Education Foundation!

WEF’s generosity—and belief in the empowering possibilities of the theatrical process—will allow our scenic design students to install a new rigging and pulley system to support the construction of special set pieces for INTO THE WOODS.

Come see the show to discover what magic we have in store… ✨

Thank you, WEF, for this truly glorious gift!

MANY “VOICES OF DA VINCI” (Choirs, that is!)
As the Da Vinci Vocal Music Program has expanded and grown over the last two years, we have finally settled into our established ensemble groupings (TK-2, Gr. 3-8 and high school). In an effort to better define the function of each group, as well as forge more of an identity for each one, our choral ensembles will now have new distinctions:

  • TK-2nd grade - Voices of Da Vinci Primary Choir (Voices of Da Vinci “Primary”)
  • 3rd-8th grade – Voices of Da Vinci Junior Choir (Voices of Da Vinci “Junior”)
  • High School – Voices of Da Vinci High School Choir (Voices of Da Vinci “High School”)

These titles not only provide a more refined way of referring to each group that ties into the identity of our school, but they also highlight the progression and advancement that our singers make from TK all the way through to high school.

TK-8 PERFORMING ARTS: New Classes and New Spring Structure
This semester, we are expanding our performing arts offerings for CONNECT TK-8!

Acting/Improv class (with Diane) and Dance class (with Lindsey) will be available for grades 3-8 on Wednesdays. (Both new classes had more than 25 students enrolled on the very first day!)

Additionally, our Spring performance opportunities will look a little different this semester.

  • CHOIR: TK – 2 Voices of Da Vinci Primary Choir will continue to participate in Rock Around the Block, and our 3rd-8th grade Voices of Da Vinci Junior Choir will join the Voices of Da Vinci High School Choir for a joint Spring concert on May 21st in the Blackbox.
  • THEATRE: Each TK-2 musical theatre class will have their own Performance Parlour (a more intimate Showcase) in the Blackbox Theater on their last class day. All 3rd- 8th grade classes (musical theatre, acting/improv, and dance) will join together for a Performance Parlour in the Blackbox Theater on June 6th.

We’re looking forward to seeing our young performing artists continue to train and grow. (Imagine how prepared they’ll all be for our performing arts programs by the time they arrive at Da Vinci High Schools!)

NEW SPRING THEATRE SEMINARS
To increase interest and provide more in-depth theatrical learning, Diane and Will have launched Second Semester Seminar Specializations. This Spring Diane’s Acting Seminar will explore theatre through the distinctive lens of “Children’s Theatre.” From adapting popular children’s books from page to stage, to learning how to create and facilitate educational theatre programming for younger students, students will step into innovative and activated theatre practices. Will’s Stagecraft Seminar is focusing on “Design for Theatre.” Students have been engaged, excited and eager to dive more deeply into both processes.

BEYOND THE STAGE: The WDV Performing Arts Campaign
From upgrading our Blackbox Theater and instruments, to funding student travel, masterclasses, meals, community performances, and more, your donation fuels every part of the performing arts journey. When you give, you’re not just funding a performance — you’re empowering students to find their authentic voice, evolve confidence, and grow as artists, people, and as a community. Together, we can ensure every student has the chance to shine — on stage and in life. Every gift - no matter the amount - makes a difference.

Thank you for keeping the heartbeat of the arts strong at WDV Performing Arts. Please consider making a gift today!

Thank you for your support of WDV Performing Arts—we can’t wait to see you in the audience!
