The Levitt Lab at Da Vinci Connect Selected for National AI Lab Schools Cohort
We are excited to share that The Levitt Lab at Da Vinci Connect, powered by ASU Prep — a new Da Vinci Schools program launching in Fall 2026 — has been selected as one of only 14 schools nationwide to join Playlab’s inaugural AI Lab Schools cohort, an initiative focused on reimagining what school can look like in the age of AI. This two-year national initiative is led by Playlab, a nonprofit building the future of education.
Over the next 24 months, the Da Vinci team will collaborate with a community of researchers, founders, and a national network of innovative schools to design and launch new AI-integrated school models—or redesign existing ones—so students have more voice, more agency, and more opportunities to develop the skills and mindsets needed in the age of AI. As part of this cohort, we have committed to making our learning and practices open source so the work we do can benefit schools across the country.
The Playlab program begins in July 2026. Da Vinci was selected based on our history of innovation, student-centered learning, and commitment to preparing young people for a rapidly changing world. The selection also recognizes Da Vinci’s longstanding focus on real-world, project-based learning experiences that empower students to think critically, collaborate creatively, and engage meaningfully with emerging technologies.
Through this partnership, The Levitt Lab at Da Vinci Connect will have the opportunity to collaborate with education innovators across the country to prototype new approaches to teaching and learning, explore how AI can support deeper and more personalized learning experiences, and contribute to a growing national conversation about the future of education.
About the Levitt Lab at Da Vinci Connect
Launching in Fall 2026, the Levitt Lab at Da Vinci Connect, powered by ASU Prep, is a new Da Vinci Schools offering in partnership with renowned economist and Freakonomics author Steve Levitt and Arizona State University. It is a free, public high school experience designed for today’s learners, combining flexible, personalized learning with online coursework, Socratic-style discussions, in-depth explorations, hands-on projects that tackle real-world problems, and more.
Students will earn approximately 40 college credits through ASU over the course of their four-year experience, while meeting A–G requirements for UC and CSU eligibility. Located in El Segundo, the hybrid model includes four days of on-campus learning each week, along with one day of remote coursework that students can complete from anywhere on Wednesdays. Students will fully participate in Da Vinci’s signature experiences — including Exhibitions, Presentations of Learning, CIF Athletics, Performing Arts, clubs, robotics, dances, and more.
Limited 9th-grade spots are available for the 2026–27 school year.
