
Winter Wolf Pack Athletics Update
As winter sports move into full swing, December has been an action-packed month across WDV Athletics. Our student-athletes competed in preseason and holiday tournaments, gaining valuable experience, building team chemistry, and preparing for the start of league competition.
🏀 Girls Basketball
The Lady Wolves head into the holiday break with an impressive 11–6 overall record and a perfect 1–0 start in Pioneer League play, currently sitting second in league standings. The team has totaled 714 points while playing strong, competitive defense. They remain undefeated at home (2–0) and are battle-tested on neutral courts with a 9–6 record.
December highlights include a first-place finish at the Glenn-Norwalk Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament and a thrilling 66–60 overtime victory over South Torrance on December 15. The win marked a statement league opener, knocking off the defending Pioneer League powerhouse and setting the tone for the season ahead. The Lady Wolves have now won seven of their last nine games, carrying strong momentum into league play.

🏀 Boys Basketball
As of December 22, the Wolves hold a 6–5 overall record, scoring 653 points while allowing 662, reflecting a competitive and well-balanced team. The squad has been especially strong at home with a 4–2 record.
Over Thanksgiving break, the Wolves hosted the 5th Annual WDV Holiday Classic, earning key home victories against West Torrance and Carson. The JV and Frosh/Soph teams also hosted a home tournament from December 1–6, continuing to build depth and experience across the program. ⚽ Girls Soccer
The Lady Wolves enter the break with a 2–1–1 overall record, currently third in Pioneer League standings. Early non-league play showcased an explosive offense and strong team cohesion, highlighted by a 10–0 shutout victory over Diego Rivera to open the season.
Additional highlights include a 3–1 home win against Hamilton and a hard-fought 2–2 draw against GALA, demonstrating resilience and determination as league play approaches.
⚽ Boys Soccer
The Wolves boys soccer team gained valuable experience through a demanding non-league schedule, entering the break with a 2–5–3 overall record and 20 goals scored. While league play is just getting underway, the team has shown flashes of potential and strong fight throughout the season.
Notable performances include a dominant 6–0 win over Hawthorne on December 4 and a 4–0 road victory against Mary Star of the Sea. The Wolves also earned three ties, reflecting their persistence and competitive spirit as they prepare for the heart of league competition.
🌸 Spring Season Athletics Update
Spring sports are officially underway at Wiseburn Da Vinci Athletics, with campuses buzzing as student-athletes begin tryouts, training, and preseason preparation.
🥎 Softball
Softball has seen strong turnout and competitive early play. The team continues to build chemistry, refine fundamentals, and grow under the guidance of the coaching staff, setting the foundation for a promising season.
⚾ Baseball
Baseball is in full swing as the team develops depth and consistency with a mix of returning players and new faces. The athletes are competing hard in non-league play and eagerly await the completion of the new baseball field to further enhance training and development.

🏐 Boys Volleyball
Boys volleyball has brought energy to the gym this preseason, focusing on communication, effort, and system development as they prepare for a competitive schedule.
🏃 Track & Field
Track & Field has completed tryouts and is now focused on conditioning and preparation as the team gears up for its first meets of the season.
🏊 Swim
The swim team has completed tryouts and begun practices, emphasizing conditioning, technique, and team unity ahead of upcoming meets.
🏹 Archery
Archery continues to shine as a standout program, with athletes demonstrating focus, discipline, and consistency throughout practices.

🏐 Girls Beach Volleyball
Girls Beach Volleyball begins training in January, featuring many familiar faces from the championship indoor volleyball team. Excitement is high as athletes look to translate their indoor success to the sand.
