300+ Da Vinci High School Students Volunteer in Wiseburn This Semester

This semester, more than 300 Da Vinci high school students volunteered at Wiseburn school events, generously sharing their time, talents, energy, and heart. From supporting large-scale community celebrations to helping with small but meaningful moments, Da Vinci students created lasting memories for younger students and their families across the district.

From Wiseburn Elementary Family Math Nights, to Wiseburn Middle School’s annual Spooktacular, to Hollyglen Elementary’s Holiday Bear Bazaar, our students showed up in powerful ways and made a meaningful impact. We are incredibly grateful for—and proud of—the professionalism, care, enthusiasm, and love they brought to every event.

Family Math Nights: Learning Through Joy

Forty-five Da Vinci students volunteered across three Wiseburn Elementary Family Math Nights, helping lead fun, hands-on math activities for younger students and their families. These joyful evenings encouraged curiosity and confidence in math while supporting Wiseburn’s ongoing commitment to building strong foundational skills.

Family Math Nights also highlight the importance of partnership between home and school, creating meaningful opportunities for students to learn and grow with the support and engagement of families across the district.

Wiseburn Middle School Spooktacular: A Community Favorite

Wiseburn Middle School’s annual Spooktacular, hosted by the PTSA on October 24, brought the community together for an evening full of festive fun, spooky surprises, and unforgettable memories. A crowd favorite was the Wiseburn House of Horrors, an impressive full-scale haunted house in the WMS Multipurpose Room—twice the size of previous years.

More than 240 Da Vinci student volunteers and staff supported nearly every aspect of the event, including game stations, prize booths, food and candy counters, event setup and cleanup, facilities, and security. Their teamwork and enthusiasm helped make the event a tremendous success.

Holiday Bear Bazaar: Service With Heart

On December 6, Hollyglen Elementary hosted its annual Holiday Bear Bazaar, where approximately 15 Da Vinci student volunteers assisted with face painting, crafts, photography, and helping younger kids shop in the beloved Lil’ Shoppers Shoppe. The younger students especially loved face painting and shopping alongside our high school volunteers.

Javeria Khan, a 9th-grade student at Da Vinci Design who volunteered as a face painter, shared, “I wanted to see the look on kids’ faces when I painted them. I think volunteering is really fun—I enjoy helping out and meeting the kids. It makes me feel at home again,” said the Wiseburn Middle School alum. “I miss Wiseburn. I would love to do more volunteering, and I can’t wait for future events.”

Our Da Vinci students brought creativity, kindness, and patience to every interaction—qualities that truly made the day special.

Building Connections Across Our Community

Da Vinci volunteers came from across our schools, creating opportunities for students to connect with one another while giving back to our community.

Matthew Ferraiolo, an 11th grader at Da Vinci Design, and Isaiah Navarro, a senior at Da Vinci Connect High, had never met before volunteering at Wiseburn Elementary Family Math Nights. Through their shared experiences, they have become friends—bonded by trying new things, giving back to the community, and a shared passion for content creation. To stay in touch, they even shared each other’s TikTok accounts.

“It feels amazing to volunteer because I want to do community work when I get older,” said Matthew. “Understanding how a community can be run and how to organize is really cool. I also find it rewarding to teach the younger generation—stay consistent and find what you love to do.”

Isaiah added, “I love helping the younger generation as much as I can and hopefully inspiring them to stay in school and do their best.”

None of these events would be possible without the incredible dedication of our students and the support of their parents and caregivers. Thank you to the families who helped transport students to and from volunteer events—many of these PTSA fundraisers simply would not be possible without you.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to school leaders, PTSA leaders, educators, and families who welcomed our students and partnered with us to make these events so special. We are deeply thankful to everyone who helped make this semester of service such a success.
