Ivonne Alarcon is the new STEM Teacher at RISE-New Earth in Culver City and a South Los Angeles native. Her parents immigrated from Mexico in the late 1960’s and they instilled in her, and her siblings, a strong school and work ethic because they believed education would be the key to social mobility. Their dream was to see all four children graduate and become professionals.
Ivonne attended UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley where she received her undergraduate degrees in B.A. Economics and B.S. Mechanical Engineering, respectively. Ivonne also earned her M.A. Teaching Secondary Education and CA Teaching Credential at the University of Southern California. Ivonne loves being with family, animals, listening and dancing to music, and learning new things. Fun fact: Spanish is my first language, but Math is my favorite 🙂
