Dr. Matthew Wunder is CEO, Superintendent, and Co-Founder of Da Vinci Schools, a Los Angeles network comprised of five high schools, a TK-8 home school-hybrid model, and a college and career program. Under Matt’s leadership, Da Vinci has developed innovative school models that combine college and career readiness, real world learning aligned with employer needs, and competency-based education. Matt is dedicated to building high-quality, equitable schools that overcome under-resourced systems and believes stronger alignment between K–12 schools, colleges, and employers is key to closing opportunity and skills gaps.
Previously, he served as Principal of Wiseburn School District’s Richard Henry Dana Middle School (2002-2008), leading it to become a California Distinguished School and a National Forum Middle School To Watch.
Matt serves on the Loyola Marymount University School of Education Board of Visitors and is a Pahara Institute Fellow, a Google GSV Education Innovation Fellow, and Schools That Can Trustee. He has also taught graduate classes as an adjunct professor in educational leadership, school business, and school counseling.
Matt holds a Master’s in Education, administrative, teaching, and PPS credentials from Loyola Marymount University, and a doctorate in Education Technology with a focus on service quality dimensions as indicators of school quality from Pepperdine University.
