Investing in Excellence

We asked our community to “Invest in Excellence,” and you truly stepped up, resulting in almost $50,000 to our first-ever Annual Giving Campaign. Even in these challenging economic times, the Da Vinci community generously demonstrated your confidence in our vision and commitment to excellence. Thank you!!

Dollars raised through the Annual Giving Campaign benefit every Da Vinci student and provide critical operating funds to help bridge the gap between what the state provides and what it really costs to deliver the outstanding education we want for our children. With your support, we were able to fund college field trips during the 2009-2010 school year. In April 2010, every Da Vinci student toured USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, Cal State L.A., and The Claremont Colleges. Your gifts also enabled us to purchase project-based learning materials for each teaching team, fund cutting-edge classroom technology, develop a mentoring program, and enhance our after-school arts, sports and tutoring programs.

Gifts made to the Annual Giving Campaign come at a crucial time when the state’s budget crisis has resulted in an approximate $700,000 funding loss to our schools. While we can’t make up the entire shortfall through Annual Giving, we are continuing to find ways to close the budget gap through efficient use of resources, innovative programs, and opportunities for alternative revenue sources.

The Annual Giving Campaign is Da Vinci Schools’ first giving priority and the only fundraiser in which we ask every family to participate. As we seek to broaden our donor base and to create a “culture of giving” that will serve our schools well into the future, a strong Annual Giving Campaign – both in terms of dollars raised and participation – is of considerable importance. Strong participation encourages others to give, encourages foundations and corporations to invest in our schools, and sends a message to the community that Da Vinci Schools make a difference.

Whether you gave your time, talent or money, we are enormously grateful for your recent support and continued dedication to Da Vinci Schools. We look forward to working together as a community in the coming years to ensure that every Da Vinci student graduates college-ready, career-prepared, and community-minded.
